Same Time, Different Choice

The one thing that every person has in common is the amount of time they have in an hour — sixty minutes. Depending on individual priorities, the manner in which these same periods are spent is infinite in choice. Amazingly though, and despite efficient management of time, the majority of our achievement and happiness takes place in a short space of time. Using the unit of one hour as a reference point, ten minutes is utilised in channelling our energy proactively, while fifty minutes is wasted in using our energy reactively. With the majority of our energy absorbed through involvement with such draining elements, it is no surprise that there is so much fatigue and depression.

Every waking hour takes you either towards fulfilling your particular speciality, or away from it. There is no neutral, only forwards or backwards. Channelling your energy has nothing to do with keeping in balance, which is more to do with restoring energy that has been drained. Continue Reading »

Secrets of good phoning

‘For people who like peace and quiet:a phoneless cord.’

When you are feeling anxious, the tension can come through in your voice and create problems for you on the phone. Research shows that an anxious man sounds elderly, inflexible, irritable and bad-tempered. Tense women can be judged to be irrational,emotional and unstable.

You can rid yourself of tension before phoning by relaxing yourmind and your muscles. Take a deep breath, tighten up all over, clench your fists and toes, stretch your legs and hold for a slowcount of five.

Relax and breathe out for a count of five. Take another deepbreath, hold for a count of five, breathe out and relax. Make sure your teeth are unclenched by putting your tongue against theback of your top front teeth. Continue Reading »

You only succeed through action

If you envy others who are taking a boat trip to Hawaii, look wistfully at their Ferrari, wish you could send your son or daughter on a holiday overseas and would love to own a better home, you need to ask yourself what’s stopping you. The answer is probably money. Or rather, a lack of it.

The real reason is that you are not taking the correct actions to make money. Just remember that nothing happens without intelligent action. You have to make it happen by doing something. Continue Reading »
