Confront and Conquer
Overcoming our fears means that any dilemmas that may arise in our lives disappear, as situations are perceived differently. Once again, however, what in truth is simple is often difficult to accept. The situations that each of us creates by our fears should be viewed as blessings, each with a role to play. All bring us the same opportunity to learn to release our fears and allow love to emerge in their place.
Each time you confront and conquer your fears you are allowing your true conscience to grow in influence. In doing so you avoid failures and, indeed, view any setbacks as valuable lessons when encountered. People with high self-esteem and no fears about their own worth are excellent people to work for and with.
As we release our fears, the confrontations that had previously caused us pain become fewer, and the disapproval from others that made us feel so rejected becomes acceptable. This happens in direct proportion to our realisation that we cannot, and should not, try to please anyone by compromising our sense of worth and developing values. There is actually no such thing as a tense or uncomfortable situation with others. What has really bothered you is the behaviour and explanations you think you owe to others. You owe nothing to others except to be real, for you alone can give true value to yourself.
Trying to impress another, looking for approval, hanging on to someone’s every word, expressing contrived concern for another’s well-being, and explaining yourself, are all examples of you compromising your honesty with yourself. This is done in the false belief that you are strengthening your position with others. Being honest with yourself means never having to explain or complain.
By reminding yourself of the invalidity of your fears, as well as the benefits gained each time they are conquered, you will actually start to anticipate eagerly, rather than dread, those situations that allow you to confront them. Each time you confront and conquer your fear of being honest with yourself, you may still experience its reappearance. But its hold over you will be weaker and it will no longer be the dictator it was previously. It will simply be an emotion that you are aware of, but it can no longer influence you to discontinue the path that you know is right.
You will discover that you no longer use financial or career criteria as the dominant determinant in your decision-making. You will trust that if a deal does not happen or is lost, a better one will be lying on the path ahead of you. This path may appear painful at first, as it could appear to be a loss of something. But this sacrifice is an illusion, as any path that is grounded in integrity and balance will not only take you where you want to go, but provide peace of mind and fulfilment along the way. This path follows in union with the application of the third key.
