The Power of Self-Awareness part
How to use the Power of Conscious Thinkingto achieve the results you desire.
If there is one factor that sets man apart from other animals, it’s the ability to choose. Birds operate on a genetic code embedded deep within their brains. Mammals operate on instinct and conditioning. Only humans have the gift of conscience and consciousness. The problem, though, like all other gifts, is that we may have the gift but we don’t use it. And so the gift loses its power. In this session we will show you how to leverage the gift of Self-Awareness. We will demonstrate the Power of Choice and Conscious Thinking. And finally we will show you how to help others do the same.
The wristwatch exercise
Do this exercise right now: take your wristwatch off your left wrist and place it on your right wrist. Do it now. We promise you that for the next 4-6 weeks you will continually look at your left wrist for the time even though the watch is on your right wrist. Why? Habit and conditioning. If you wear your watch on your left wrist, your brain has been conditioned to refer to your left wrist for the time. It will take 4-6 weeks to “re-condition” your brain to refer to your right wrist. (This information, by the way, is based on personal research completed by Mike on himself.)
Now, if it takes your brain 4-6 weeks simply to re-condition itself for this simple task, imagine how much more challenging it is to change other more complex, deep rooted habits. But that’s exactly what this session is all about. It’s about consciously “rewiring” your mind to respond to situations in the most effective manner, not in the manner that you’ve become used to doing.
The trademark of highly successful entrepreneurs: . They are always seeking change and new ways to ignite their businesses.
You see, the reason why we form habits is that they allow the brain to focus on new challenges. If we had to relearn everything every day, obviously we couldn’t function. However, there are certain aspects of our lives, that we need to unlearn. There are certain habits that we need to get rid of. There are certain habits we need to acquire.
There is knowledge we need to learn.
All of these challenges mean that our brains are in a constant state of change. It means that there always has to be a degree of discomfort as the brain adjusts to new realities. However, the difference between those who succeed and those who don’t is very often the way they’re able to live with this discomfort. Those people who keep seeking the Comfort Zone and avoid change will fail. While those who consciously seek the High Performance Zone and embrace change will thrive.
Like anything else, programming your brain for change—is an acquired „skill. The more time you invest in this skill, the better you will be. It’s a brand new, hugely challenging experience for both of us.
And that’s the trademark of highly successful entrepreneurs: they are always seeking change and new ways to ignite their businesses. Almost every moment of every day, they are searching for the next breakthrough idea that will sustain their success. Their minds are in perpetual motion: seeking, seeking, seeking. Is yours? We have to believe it is otherwise you would not have made it this far.
Switch off your automatic pilot and switch on your mental radar
In his classic novel, The Great Gatsby, Scott Fitzgerald described Jay Gatsby as a man “with a heightened sensitivity to the promises of life”. We believe he was describing a key attribute of great entrepreneurs. They are hyper sensitive to the opportunities and possibilities around them. They see openings and prospects where others see nothing. They have trained themselves to take nothing for granted. They filter everything through their “opportunity radar”.
