Use Networking objections to develop your network

One of the most common objections you will get is: ‘I haven’t the time.’ Simply say: ‘I understand you are busy. Let’s draw up a prospect list right now of 10 friends of yours. [Take names, addresses and telephone numbers.] All I want you to do is phone them and let them know I’ll be calling on them. Leave the rest up to me.’

Contact these prospects: ‘Hello. Myrtle Turner? Pat Rogers and I were discussing a business opportunity and she said you may be interested…’ Now do the presentation.

Once you have signed up a few distributors, go back to your initial prospect. Simply say: ‘Pat, I contacted some of your friends without your being present and signed them up. I’d be happy to put these into your downline to give you a head start. But, before I do that, I need to get a commitment from you that you’ll register as a distributor with our company and you’ll use our products in your home. If you do that, these distributors can join your downline. Your business has been started for you. But by how much it will grow is up to you. We’re having a training session for all new distributors next Monday. Why not come along?’

Business BlogIf she is not interested, don’t worry. She’s given you names that might have been difficult to source otherwise. They go into your downline. So this is a winning strategy to get the business.

CHECKLIST: BUILDING THE DOWNLINE

Do you:

  • know exactly what you are going to say
  • keep the customer focused
  • emphasise what the product and network marketing will do for the prospect
  • stress the benefits of running your own business
  • rehearse what you are going to say in front of a mirror or roleplay a presentation in front of colleagues?

Doyou have more knowledge than you need, such as:

  • main benefits of networking and how it works
  • videos and cassettes
  • product brochures
  • knowledge of products, their uses and benefits
  • prices, terms and conditions of sales
  • buy-back guarantees and sponsoring services?

Do you think about customer appeal all the time?

  • Do you show enthusiasm for your company and its products?
  • Do you talk about benefits that are of importance to the prospect?
  • Do you paint word pictures showing how networking leads to wealth creation? ‘Imagine, by Christmas you’ll have that pool, that car or that overseas trip!’
  • Do you emphasise your ongoing commitment and personal support?
  • Do you reflect prosperity and success?
